Principal's latest letter to parents

6th December 2018

Dear Parent/Carer,

As we head towards the end of the Autumn Term, I would like to ask for your support when dropping students off by car in the morning. Safeguarding students is of paramount importance and as such, our school gates will now close at 8.30am to allow a safe environment for students walking to their first lesson, which starts at 8.40am.  I would be grateful if you would drop students off outside of the school gates at all times, rather than driving into the car park.  For those students who need to be driven to the door for various reasons, I would be grateful if you could drive carefully and slowly.

I would also like to take this opportunity, to reassure you during adverse weather conditions that school will always aim to remain open regardless of the weather.  We will provide you with regular updates via text message, the school website and Twitter.

On Wednesday 12th December, we have our annual staff and student Christmas Lunch.  This includes roast turkey with all the trimmings (including a vegetarian option) and a wide selection of hot and cold desserts.  Students who have a packed lunch can also join in for the very reasonable price of £2.15, which is payable on the day.  Our catering team really do make an extra special effort for this event, so your support would be appreciated.

I would like to invite you to our school Carol Concert, which will be held in the school Theatre on Wednesday 12th December from 6pm to 7pm.   Please do come along, everyone is welcome and it is sure to be a fantastic evening.

As a reminder, school is closed to students on Friday 7th and Friday 21st December. School will also be closing at 1:15pm on Thursday 20th December for Christmas, at which time school buses will arrive to take students home.  The exception to this is the K185 bus serving Slaithwaite, Cop Hill and Pole Gate, which will not be available.  This may only affect a small number of students so we hope that parents/carers can make alternative arrangements to transport students home.  However, should this cause a problem for any parents or students please do not hesitate to contact school and we’ll be happy to discuss alternative arrangements.  The service buses (ST11 for Slaithwaite and 389 for Meltham) will pick up from usual service stops and not from within the school grounds.

Thank you for your continued support.  Together we are stronger.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Christian
